E House Hotel

For one night, this budget hotel was clean and good value, with a nice location. There’s a 7-11 next door, a craft beer bar just behind the building, and a good cocktail bar a minute away. They offer free instant noodles and candy, and the staff are nice and smiley.

We stayed for 6d5n, and the service was so warm. There were free snacks, Maggie noodles, and drinks in the resting area. On checkout day we asked if we could wait there for almost five hours before leaving for the airport. The manager said yes, and told us we could eat and drink while we waited. So nice of them. I’ll book this hotel again when I’m in Taipei.

The room was just okay and had no window, but the price was reasonable and it’s among the cheaper hotels nearby. The MRT is very close. If your legs are weak, keep in mind the lift is one flight of stairs up, and carrying a heavy bag up at check-in and back down at checkout can be difficult, especially after shopping. Still, I thought it was good overall.

The manager had the leaking handheld shower head replaced right away when we reported it. It was probably damaged by an earlier guest who dropped it and didn’t report the problem. The staff were very nice, though the room could have been cleaner. Towels had some rips. For the price, it’s hard to beat, and I’d stay again. The location is excellent, close to Ximinding. Breakfast is no longer provided, but from 7 AM to 10 PM there are free ramen, snacks, cappuccino, espresso, and latte. The TV has about 100 free channels in Mandarin, English, and Korean, plus free adult channels. If you want a nicer room with new towels and price doesn’t matter, you’ll pay more elsewhere. If your wife is picky, you may have a problem and should stay at a 4 or 5 star hotel.
