City Suites - Beimen

Check-in and checkout were smooth, and we left our luggage there without any trouble. The room and hallway were a bit dark and had no windows, though that seemed pretty normal in Tpe. Noise blocking was okay, and having a 7/11 right next door was handy. It’s part of the same system as Papa Whale, with another branch nearby, and only a few hundred meters from Dihua street. Good value for a budget stay.

The front desk was very helpful, housekeeping was good, and the location worked well for the airport express train terminal and Dehua heritage street. My room was at the back, with no windows, but it was one of the largest available and away from the busy street noise. The rooms are tiny with no storage, so I’d only use this as a short stop near the main station before heading to the airport.

The bed was very uncomfortable, and we didn’t get a good night’s sleep at any point. We could hear other guests talking in their rooms, and even toilets and showers through the walls. The temperature was a problem too: the room stayed cold, but the controls didn’t work properly. We turned off the air conditioning, then it got too hot. When we told reception, they didn’t offer help and just said it should be working. We were relieved to check out and move on to the next hotel.

The room was smaller than I expected, but neat and tidy. Staff were helpful and supportive. The location is a big plus, with the MRT nearby and a 7/11 and Family Mart next door.
