Grand Hyatt Taipei

The bar was a highlight. The staff were welcoming and attentive, checking in regularly and making sure our glasses stayed full. Breakfast had plenty of choice, though it gets extremely busy, so I'd go early to avoid queues and crowds. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The stay started badly with a disappointing interaction with a staff member at check-in. We've already exchanged emails with the hotel about it. We didn't mean to take the matter further, but the hotel should keep in mind that one person's behavior can shape the impression of an otherwise well-known property. Grand Hyatt Taipei still has a great location and many enjoyable aspects, despite that check-in experience.

The breakfast was a highlight, with plenty to choose from, though it gets crowded in the morning so it’s better to go early. I stayed at Grand Hyatt from 3/7-3/9 and was able to check in early after arriving ahead of time. The staff were friendly and courteous, and being next to Taipei 101 made getting around convenient. I had a good stay and would recommend it for a visit to Taipei.

The suite on a high floor gave us great city views and lots of room, including two large bathrooms. After a long journey, the fruit, cookies, and wine waiting for us were a nice touch. Breakfast at the main buffet was one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve had, with a wide, high-quality selection and worth the extra cost even though we had lounge access. The lounge breakfast was convenient and perfectly fine, but the main buffet was much better. We were traveling as a family, and the location in Xinyi made exploring easy. Taipei 101 is just steps away, with skywalk access to malls, restaurants, and the metro, which was especially handy with kids. The hotel is large and can get busy, but the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the outdoor pool and grounds in the afternoon. It was a comfortable, reliable base for Taipei, and we’d happily stay again.

The location is hard to beat if you want to be near Taipei 101. There’s a direct bridge to the mall, other malls and attractions are within walking distance, and the MRT is just down the block. We stayed six nights during our Asia trip. The hotel feels a little dated, though that adds to its charm, and it really does feel “grand.” Our room was serviced every night and the amenities were top notch. The gym had modern equipment, and staff cleaned it soon after use. My one gripe was the pillows. They were quite flat, and I’d expect more cushion from a 5-star hotel.
