Guide Hotel Taipei Chongqing

Our ninth-floor room was really quiet, much more so than the hotel we stayed at before in Daan District. Shops are close by, and Taipei Main Station is about an 11-minute walk. We loved the staff, though service could be a little better: once, when I reported that our floor's water dispenser was empty, reception told me to try refilling from another floor. Still, my husband and I loved our stay! ♥️

The room was spacious, clean, and pleasant, and the staff were friendly and could speak some languages. There's a self-service check-in machine that's quick and simple, with staff available if you need help. We were four people from Singapore traveling around Taiwan on our own, without a travel agency. Getting around was easy. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Taipei Central Station, and we took the MRT from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. Nearby, there are local food shops, KFC, McDonald's, convenience stores like 7-11 and family supermarkets, plus a night market. A few small things to know: some floors have a water refill dispenser, though I can't remember which ones, so bring your own bottle. I mistakenly thought they'd provide plastic water bottles every day, but they only gave one once, which you can use to collect water. There were some black lines in the toilet, but we didn't mind. You can get an extra room key card with a NT$500 deposit, which is returned when you bring it back. They give you a receipt, so remember to show the deposit slip when getting your money back. It was a good stay and worth it, especially if you book during a promotion. To me, it isn't a four-star hotel, but it could be better and feels more like a three-star place. Thanks for having us. A simple, no-frills place with clean bathrooms, reasonably sized rooms, and friendly service. The location is the big plus: the Taoyuan airport metro and Taipei main station are both within walking distance. There's luggage storage and a water dispenser in the lobby too. The pillows were uncomfortable for us, though, and the room Wi-Fi got weaker unless we sat right beside the router. Expect clean, basic rooms rather than anything luxurious.

We left after two nights of a planned five-night stay, and later Agoda and the hotel management worked out a refund for the remaining nights. After a lot of calls and emails among all three parties, the hotel agreed to charge us for the two nights and refund the rest through Agoda. To be fair, they reduced the two-night charge as a goodwill rate. I hope they address the problems. The room had a strong musty smell, and the fifth-floor corridor smelled strongly of musk and cigarettes. The carpet badly needed cleaning. At 12 °C outside, there was no heater. The chair was dirty, a broken eyelash was stuck to a towel, the bathroom floor was slippery, and some wall tiles were cracked. Some room lights didn't work either. I raised the heater and odor issues with the front desk.
