Muzik Hotel - Ximending Xining Branch

The room was acceptable, but the lift was disgusting. There was a strong rat smell on the ground floor, and the door opening and closing kept disturbing us. We could also hear other guests talking through our door, which was annoying.

It’s a budget hotel, but my family found our stay comfortable and good. The front desk was helpful, the place was quiet and kept clean, and there’s self-service laundry on one of the floors. They don’t have everything, but there were some free snacks in the room. Walking to Ximen Station through XiMending was convenient, though a little far. We loved our stay.

I was here alone for six leisure days. After a red-eye, I arrived with my luggage at 10am. Janet, the front desk manager, explained that check-in was at 3pm and suggested one of their affiliated spas where I could rest and relax, with a discount for hotel guests. When I finally got to my room, it smelled naturally floral and was spotless. The housekeepers were friendly and meticulous as they worked. The one downside was that my room had no window. Next time I’d book direct, since I could get a better room for the same price. I also like their approach to keeping costs down and promoting green travel. Front desk service runs only from 10am to 5pm, with an automated check-in facility there. It’s a great business model.

At Muzik Hotel Xining Branch, the self check-in and check-out kiosk was easy to use, though self-checkout didn’t work well, so we were advised to use an alternative when leaving. Lao Jie on staff was very nice, while the younger woman seemed less approachable. The bed was so stiff I couldn’t sleep for the first four nights, and I had to put an extra comforter underneath me. The pillow flattened easily, so I kept turning it over. The room had a smell like perfume or medicine that I didn’t like, and it stayed in my bag even after I got home. Laundry is self-service on the 9th floor, but the dryer didn’t work well. Even after two cycles on medium, everything was still damp. The chair massager on the 9th floor didn’t work either. They don’t clean the room, only take out trash and replace towels once during your whole stay, however long it is.
