Hotel Eclat Taipei

We were there as a family from 30 Dec to the 3rd of Jan 2026. The staff were warm and genuinely helpful, and the hotel felt cozy. Our room was large and had everything we needed. Breakfast was decent, and the location was very convenient. There were free snacks and a complimentary drink too. Recommended.

The only part I really liked was the Jo Loves bath products. The shampoo bottle, though, was fixed to the wall in such an awkward spot that I had to press hard and barely got any out. It felt stingy, like a lot of the little choices here. The hotel has an old-fashioned five-star look, with dated touches like a CD player and a Montblanc desk pen that suggest it was quite grand once. But service let it down. The lounge staff came across as snobbish, and housekeeping seemed careless. The linens were nice, but the mattress topper was narrower than the mattress and kept sliding, bunching the sheets and making sleep uncomfortable. The room wasn’t cleaned thoroughly, and my pajamas were left unfolded, as if staff hadn’t been trained properly. I wouldn’t stay again unless the price came down significantly.

The hotel was comfortable, well located, and the staff were willing to help. The Italian restaurant in B1 was good and packed on a Monday evening. Breakfast had limited choices, and they couldn’t make poached eggs. For room service, you have to go downstairs to order and then return to your room, which is inconvenient. The outdoor seating area also needs attention, with dirty, peeling planters and rusty chairs.

It has this odd early-2000s luxury look, with clear chairs, chrome and glass, colored feature lights, art in the rooms, and a Bang & Olufsen CD player. I kind of love the style, though the technology definitely needs an update.
