Hotel I Journey

The service and location were good, but the hospital across the street meant ambulances woke me up. On my last night I got a series of bumps, which I think may have been from bed bugs.

The staff were really friendly and accommodating, and replied to emails and requests quickly. Housekeeping did a great job and was fast. The place also smelled nice and clean. The room was comfortable, and so was the bed. I saw comments about noise, but for me it was quieter than where I normally live, so I slept comfortably. The location made the trip fun and easy. It’s literally a minute from the red line MRT station, with a night market nearby, and the MRT made it simple to see a lot of Taipei. The bathroom had heated floors and a heated toilet seat, and the air conditioning was strong and crisp, just what you need in summer or early fall. It was really nice for the price.

We booked six nights but left after two because we couldn’t bear staying there, even though the booking was non-refundable. My room was on a random floor of a commercial building, beside other businesses. It felt like a motel in a shared building. The carpet was gross, the room was small and dusty, and we could hear scratching and critters running along the walls all night. Dust covered the crystals on the bedside lamp, and we were sneezing from the dust bunnies. We couldn’t sleep. It was a terrible experience.

The staff welcomed us warmly, and the TV had a wide choice of channels. The room amenities were good and the bed was okay, but noisy water pipes made it hard to sleep. The bathtub was too small for an adult, and the shower area was cramped, so water easily spilled out. The train station is less than five minutes away on foot, and even closer by bus. One night market is under a ten-minute walk away.
