I PLAY Inn

The lobby is a nice place to hang out and meet people from all over the world 🌎. Rooms are spread over two floors, and they cost around $18-$20. My favorite things were the very roomy lockers and the Whirlpool washing and drying machines. For $3, your laundry is done in an hour. The Wi-Fi was great too. The one thing I didn’t like was the carpet on the 11FL, which needs improvement. The front desk staff were always ready to help. Cherry 🙇‍♀️, thanks a lot! ✌🏻

The staff’s reaction made this even worse. When I brought up the problem, there was no proper apology or real concern, and nobody took responsibility. They acted as if this was normal, which felt completely unacceptable given guests’ health and comfort. When I checked in at I Play Inn today, I was hit by a strong sewage stench as soon as I stepped out of the elevator. Opening my assigned room door was worse: sewage odor mixed with a heavy mold smell. The room and bathroom were extremely basic, poorly maintained, and seemed unhygienic. Above the bed was a large patch of black mold, with more visible mold on the air-conditioning vent. This feels like a serious health risk, not just an unpleasant smell. It’s one of the worst places I’ve encountered, and I can’t understand the positive reviews. I strongly warn travelers not to stay here or be fooled by them. Save your money and health, there are far better places in Taipei.

Everything else was honestly great, but there was mold all over the shower and bathroom curtains. I guess they never wash them. The space is so small that you’ll definitely touch the mold even if you try not to 😭.

The room was surprisingly roomy, and the bed was good for the price. The shower could use a curtain, since water splashes everywhere.
