Just Inn - City Hall

I ended up booking another hotel the same day. JustInn was $20 less per night, and the other place had a much better kept room in an equally good location. I’d booked during peak season, so JustInn wasn’t especially cheap either. I understand the rooms are small, since this is a mid to lower priced hotel in an expensive area. But the one I was given was in awful shape, and shouldn’t have been open to guests: big rust patches on the toilet door and window frames, right beside the bed, cracks in the walls and corners, and clumps of dust. It was also so tiny I could only open one suitcase at a time.

At around NT2200 for a night, this could work if you have a late flight and just need somewhere to leave your bags and shower before heading to the airport. The rooms are tiny, maybe suitable for a couple at most, and the thin walls make it a poor choice for a longer stay. One or two nights is okay. Getting bags inside is awkward. There’s no ramp between the motel and the outside walkway, and the lift is very small, so several bags mean making two trips. The counter staff also seemed indifferent and transactional.

We were five minutes late checking out because we had to wait for the elevator, and the staff immediately asked us to pay a late fee. When we explained, she wouldn’t hear it. She said we should manage our time and plan for the elevator wait, then compared it to being punished at school for lateness. I asked to complain about her attitude, but she said she was the manager and could reject complaints. The service was so bad, and this was my worst hotel experience. I wouldn’t choose this place unless I wanted to deal with that kind of attitude.

It’s close to shops and the train station, and feels like good value. The staff were friendly and polite. The room was a little smaller than I expected, but I could still open my luggage and get around, so it wasn’t a big deal.
