The staff were impeccable, from reception to the cleaners, and breakfast had a great range of tasty dishes. There was also a relaxed happy hour with free drinks and a good selection, though I only made it once during the stay. On my first trip to Taiwan, I found the central Taipei location easy to reach from the airport, with just a short walk from the nearest train station. My room was spacious, clean, and modern, with a comfortable bed, good amenities, and a great bathroom. I’d highly recommend staying here when visiting Taipei.

I really enjoyed the afternoon social, and there are plenty of restaurants and shopping spots nearby. The hotel is close to the metro at Zhungshion Fuxing stop. My room was spacious and clean, with soft, comfortable bedding and pillows. I’d recommend it to tourists.

The location is terrific, and the staff were wonderful and very attentive, but the hotel seems to have seen better days and needs investment. There was a damp smell throughout, and I suspect there may have been water damage. UV machines on every floor looked like an attempt to deal with it. Construction was going on next door. There wasn’t much noise, but workers outside meant we couldn’t open the curtains, leaving the room dark and enclosed. If you can, inspect the room before booking, and consider not prepaying in case you decide to leave after the first night. We’d read the reviews alongside a book recommendation and really wanted to love the place.

I left that same night and asked for written confirmation of a refund. They said an email would come the next day, but none arrived. The refund showed up a couple of days later without any explanation or follow-up. The stay in this Da’an hotel was a very poor experience, and I don’t think it meets 4-star standards. As soon as I entered the room, I noticed a strong musty smell. I was shown several rooms, including a suite, and every one had a concerning amount of visible mould in the bathroom. To me, that suggests a wider building issue rather than one isolated room. The rest of the condition was unacceptable too: doors didn’t work properly, furnishings were badly worn and damaged, and the carpets were visibly filthy and needed deep cleaning. It was a failure in basic hygiene and communication, not just a disappointment. I wouldn’t stay again and would strongly caution others before booking.
