Shihlin Home

The service here was horrible. My umbrella was stolen, staff went through my belongings, and a few pieces of clothing might have gone missing too. Whoever entered my room was constantly hacking me and bothering me. She also handled my drink from the mini fridge with greasy hands, even though she shouldn't have been going through it at all.

The place is called Shihlin Netro Home. Don't trust the pictures on the Agoda app. The entry floor and door were dirty, and the faded phone numbers on the entry phone made it hard to use. For a while there was only one elderly housekeeping woman working, and she couldn't speak English. My room wasn't cleaned during the three nights I stayed, even though I asked her to using gestures. It was a terrible place and experience. Be careful, Agoda and a hotel employee canceling your booking without permission so the hotel can overcharge you. They charged me too much for a lousy place and service.

There are lots of food and shopping options nearby, with Shilin night market vendors selling the latest food items and gadgets. The hotel itself is new, very clean, and well kept, tucked quietly on a side street near the popular market. Staff were consistently polite and quick to respond. The rooms are on the small side, but make good use of the space and have plenty of outlets, lights, and USB ports. It can get so cozy you may not feel like going out, the place grows on you. I enjoyed my stay and highly recommend it to first timers. I'll definitely come back, as will others who enjoyed staying here.

Even though it's only 10 steps from Shilin market, the hotel is very quiet. The room was clean and modern, and the staff were friendly, spoke English well, and responded to requests. Great value for money, I highly recommend it.
