Thin walls were the main drawback. I could hear my neighbors moving around all the time. The staff were very helpful, spoke some English, and there were washing and drying facilities. It felt safe for a woman traveling alone, and it was close to buses and the train station. It's a budget hotel, so you get what you pay for. Not the best, not the worst. I'd give it 4/5 because the staff were so helpful.

We got a room with a window on the eighth floor, and traffic noise from below wasn't much of an issue. The room also had a fridge, which came in handy for milk and food we picked up. Getting around was easy: Shuanglian train station and Shuanglian market are nearby, and Ningxia Night Market, one of our favorites in Taipei, is about a kilometer away. We liked taking the bus, at NT$15 per ride, and Google Maps made it simple to figure out routes. The drivers go very fast, though, which does help keep things moving. The hotel is in an older building, but it's been refurbished to an acceptable standard. We were comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and the shower had good pressure. The Japanese-style bidet was useful too. The hotel is on the same side of the street as the new Ambassador Hotel, which was still being completed, with Galleria's Louis Vuitton shop farther along.

A good-value hotel in a handy part of Taipei, with easy MRT access and interesting shops nearby. The neighborhood doesn't feel overly touristy, and we had a really great stay.

There's a washing machine and dryer in the hotel, and convenience stores downstairs. The staff were very friendly, and the location worked well for us. Although the building itself is old, the hotel has been renovated and feels fairly modern. Some guests had a party, so louder conversations from other rooms could be heard. When we let the staff know, they tried to deal with it.
