Taipei Hostel

I stayed here for four months, and Lily, one of the managers, left me with serious concerns. I suspect she lied. I didn't deal much with Tony, the other manager, so I can't comment on him. Lily was also unresponsive to email questions, even though booking confirmation was handled by email. After my first month, Lily asked me to move from a top floor room to a much smaller, lower quality room on the 6th floor. She said an elderly 70-year-old guest needed wheelchair access and only the top floor had enough space for a wheelchair. But the hostel elevator doesn't reach the rooftop top floor, only the 6th. When I questioned how a wheelchair user could get upstairs, she changed the story, saying the person was only in their 50's, not that old, and fit enough for stairs. I couldn't make sense of how someone could manage stairs but still need wheelchair space. Lily said I could move back the next month, but clearly didn't intend to keep that promise. When November got close, she asked me again to stay on the 6th because upcoming senior guests needed the upstairs room. I say “asked” because I felt pressured to agree, worried she might kick me out if I refused. The bathrooms had mold and cockroaches, and nobody tried to fix it. Both rooms were dirty and had holes in the walls, letting mosquitoes and cockroaches in. Lily also overcharged me by 50 NTD. It isn't much, but I think it says something about her character. Even if her explanation was true, it's outrageous to have a client bend over backwards and then break a promise. Stay at your own risk. The photos on the website and social media are outdated.
