The Tango Taipei FuHsing

On a two-night work trip, I found the location very handy. The MRT station is within walking distance, with plenty of eateries, convenience stores, and bars nearby. The room was well equipped with a coffee maker and ironing table, and had a Japanese toilet and a strong hot shower. It was adequate in size, though two people might find it cramped. WiFi was good but not great, and I lost connection twice while sitting near the window. Breakfast was just okay. It’s on level 2 in a rather dark, depressing space. There was a bakery section, some fruit and yogurt, and a few cooked dishes, but nothing stood out.

We spent a very enjoyable 5D4N at this hotel. Nanjing Fuxing MRT is only a two-minute walk away, with access to both the Bannan (Blue) and Wenhu (Brown) lines. There’s also a bus stop and taxi lane by the station. The hotel is a few km from the main station and tourist spots like Taipei 101. Boutiques, banks, convenience stores, and dining options are all around, making it a convenient base. The reception staff were friendly and communicated easily in English. They can store your bags if you arrive before check-in. We chose a roughly 25sqm room with a window and balcony for the extra space. Four nights came to around 20,000 NTD, which won’t suit every budget, but felt like a good deal for the room size and features, with breakfast included, especially since we booked less than two weeks before arriving. The room had a washing machine, high-tech toilet, TV with sound system, coffee machine, and more. Housekeeping leaves a tag at the door if you choose “leave me alone” or “do not disturb.” It explains you can request cleaning during work hours, which was considerate. When we had a problem, someone from the front desk came up to fix it. There was a bit of a language barrier, but they used a translation app to communicate. Breakfast is buffet style, either included with the room or paid for separately during the stay. The food was mostly Asian and American. Some items changed each day, while rice and salad stayed the same. We didn’t get a chance to try the facilities. We only know there was a gym next to the breakfast area, as we spent our time out exploring. It was a comfortable place to rest and recharge while seeing Taiwan. A staycation would have been nice too, though their resort branch might be a better fit for that.

I love the room and concierge service here. I left my luggage two days before check-in, and by the time I arrived it was already in my room. It’s a business-style hotel with a modern room and lots of automatic controls for the curtains, shower, and toilet. There’s also a microwave, a high mountain tea set, and Qi wireless charging by the bed, which was great. The bed, pillow, and blanket were clean and comfortable. Each room has a good coffee capsule machine, and the Illy coffee tastes nice. Since January 2025, the Taiwan government has prohibited amenities. Bring your own toothpaste, toothbrush, sanitary pad, and bag. The hotel does provide liquid soap, shampoo, bath towels, and bar soap that you can take away, along with a used-soap bag, which was considerate. I’ll definitely stay here again when I’m in Taipei.

The service was friendly. The rooms are small, somewhat dark, and had a slight moldy smell. The toilet’s motion sensor kept making the lid open and close while I was using the bathroom, which got annoying.
