We spent four nights here and would happily return on our next Taiwan visit. Ximending is a short walk away, FamilyMart is just seconds from the hotel, and there’s a Hello Kitty 7-Eleven across the road, although the staff there weren’t very friendly. Chang Beef Noodles, a halal restaurant, is about five minutes away on foot. The area is convenient for pretty much anything you need. Check-in is through an automatic kiosk, but concierge staff are there to help. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and communicated well in English. Housekeeping came every day without fail. From Ximen MRT Station, exits 1 and 6 both leave you about a five-minute walk away. It’s around a 20-minute walk from Taipei Main Station, or you can take the blue line MRT to Ximen Station and walk from either exit. Let the pictures talk.

Do not book this hotel if you care about your safety. It advertises fluent English-speaking staff, but no one seemed to speak English beyond “hello.” The room was dirty and damaged at check-in: nail clippings on the bedside table, mold all over the bathroom, odd stains and things stuck to the walls, and a very dirty carpet. The replacement room wasn’t much better. One night I spoke with the supervisor about laundry service. His name was Chen, and he was the only person who spoke any English. While I was writing information on paper, he nudged a front desk colleague and pointed to his own fingers, in a way that seemed to draw attention to the jewelry on mine. When I confronted him, he pretended to scratch his fingers and acted like nothing had happened. I felt extremely uncomfortable and worried, since staff could access my room. I checked out right away, had to fight to get a partial refund for the unused stay, and booked another hotel. This place felt dirty and unsafe.

The condition of the room made for a very unpleasant five-night stay. The carpet was visibly dirty and poorly maintained, and the curtains were thick with dust. It looked like housekeeping hadn’t been done properly, and I was concerned about cleanliness and hygiene. Worse, I was bitten by bed bugs overnight, which caused discomfort and distress. That shouldn’t happen in a reputable accommodation, and it suggests the room wasn’t inspected or sanitized adequately. Even so, I was charged an extra fee for checking out just 10 minutes late. Given the room’s condition and the discomfort over my five nights there, the charge felt unfair and unreasonable. The stay fell far below acceptable hospitality standards and deserves serious attention.

Room 608 had no air conditioning, which is ridiculous. The staff did their best but couldn’t fix it, and the situation just made things inconvenient for us. It seems strange to put a fan in the room, since that suggests they knew the AC was malfunctioning. Is that really acceptable for a tourist?

The room was quiet and clean, and the staff were really friendly. It’s close to the busy areas, with a coin laundry nearby. A taxi from the airport costs about 1300 NTD.
