Ximen Corner Hostel

The showers at Ximen Corner have no barrier from the toilet, so the whole bathroom floods when you shower. There was mold all over the bathroom, and the blankets felt damp. Temperature control was nonexistent, one day it was hot and humid, the next freezing. There were random hairs and dirt everywhere, and the games cost extra. I’d stayed at another hostel beforehand, and the difference was shocking. It was a really bad visit.

The suite was good, with its own bathroom, toiletries, and towels. There’s also a fun common lounge with classic video games. Reception is open 24 hours, handy if you have a flight at some strange hour. The location’s perfect, right in the heart of Ximending. I haven’t tried the free breakfast yet.

It was cheap and right in the heart of Ximen, which was the good part. But you have to share the toilet and bathroom with the other people in your room, and there aren’t separate facilities for men and women. The toilet in my room was always dirty, and nobody had flushed it. Disgusting.

The location is great, down the small lane off Tomorrow Hotel/Watson at Ximending MRT EXIT No 6. But during my 3D2N stay in a double room, I got bug bites and found cockroaches. The toilet ventilation didn’t work, there wasn’t even a stool or small chair, and the mattress sank when just one person lay on it.
