Fish Hotel - Taitung

At 5:30 AM I woke up because a strong cigarette smell was coming through the A/C unit. It’s a non-smoking hotel with smoke detectors, but nobody at reception knew where the smell was coming from or how to handle it. The same thing happened just before we went to sleep. To be fair, they offered us another room, but by then it was already midnight. We would have had to gather all our things and move to a very hot room on another floor, so we declined.

It’s in the city center, with a 7-11 across the street and the night market, a supermarket, a stationery shop, and more nearby. I booked through Trip.com and found that the price was lower there than booking directly, so reserving ahead could save you money. The hotel was nice and hygienic, and the service was excellent. They didn’t provide toothpaste or a toothbrush, though, so remember to bring your own.

I booked on arrival for a one-night stop. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the room was lovely with a super comfortable bed. I’ll have to stay longer next time.

Being close to plenty of restaurants and about a ten-minute walk from the night market made the location handy. The hotel is downtown Taitung, and the staff let me keep my bicycle beside the lobby while I was riding around the island. My room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the shower had strong water pressure. The staff were nice, if not especially friendly. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
