alfar Hotel

A nice place to stop after a late flight, with friendly staff and a clean, good-sized room. It’s quiet and easy to reach from the Airport line, though the walk with luggage can be awkward over the uneven sidewalks. There aren’t many dining options right nearby, but the HSR and Gloria outlets center are about a 10-15 minute walk away.

There are snacks and drinks in the first-floor dining room, which was a nice surprise, though there’s no microwave if you want to heat food. The hotel is near the airport, reachable by public transit or a 20-minute taxi ride. There’s a scenic pond, a park, and a cultural center across from it. The room felt a little small for two people, but it was fine for a short stay.

The area worked really well for us: quiet, with a lake next door and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The building is newer, with newer infrastructure around it, including level walkways. My friend had only an overnight bag and walked from the Taichung HSR station in about 13 minutes. The hotel staff answered my questions quickly, and the front desk helped store and weigh my large luggage. Their handheld scale gave the same weight as the China Airlines check-in scale. We also enjoyed the complimentary beer and coffee, and the Wi-Fi was fast. A clean room, comfy bed, and excellent service in a peaceful setting.

A new, well-kept, clean room, helpful and polite staff, and a convenient spot near the outlets and train station. Free beer, coffee, and snacks were a nice extra. Fantastic value for money.
