Hyatt Regency Taoyuan International Airport

The area is very quiet, with little going on and no convenience stores easy to reach, so that’s the trade-off. Still, being right by the airport and metro was really handy. It’s about 45 minutes to Taipei Train station if you transfer to the rapid service at the next station. I stayed for a mix of remote work and vacation, and used Hyatt points. I thought the stay was well worth them.

For a transit stop, it had what I needed. The room was very clean, with blackout curtains, and I didn’t hear noise from outside or the hall. The bed felt a little too hard for me, though still better than beds I’ve usually found in Asia. Service was excellent. Lorraine at the front desk sorted out my double booking during check-in, and check-in was quick.

The mattress made it hard to sleep. I’m fine with a firm bed, but this one felt cheap, with springs I could feel, and it shook whenever I or my partner turned over. There was also hallway noise from guests slamming doors and stomping around at 2am local time. I knew an early flight might mean a short night, but I barely slept and hope to rest on the plane. The staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in was fast. The room itself was fine, and there isn’t another comparable airport hotel this close to TPE. I’d stayed when it was Accor, and it seems to have been renovated since then. Room service runs 24 hours, while breakfast is only from 6-10am. I’d recommend it only if you have a very early flight.

The beds really dragged down the stay. There was barely any cushioning, and even though I like a firm bed, this felt like a cheap setup. I had to choose between this place and the Sheraton, and it looks like I should have stayed with Marriott (Sheraton). The rooms were okay and clean. The location was great, the shuttle was easy to reach and use, and the staff were nice. I also found the food service enjoyable for hotel food and reasonably priced.
