The business stopped operating on September 15th, 2023. The next day was the first day of cleaning and disinfection. The cleaners were struck by the building and its pristine natural surroundings, but when they started checking the rooms and toilets, one word summed them up: filthy. The kitchen was coated in a thick layer of grease. I rarely feel this uncomfortable. I feel sorry for every guest who came here, especially those who paid for a vacation expecting VIP treatment. I'm not usually one to criticize, but today I felt I had to speak up. I've been fortunate to meet people with very different values, yet their excuses seem endless. They can trample on our honesty and kindness, and their integrity and credibility are bankrupt. They still seem pleased with themselves, and to me that's beyond redemption. At this age, I'm gaining a profound and enriching understanding of life.

After we arrived, the owner's mother told us the whole building was booked and there were no rooms left. We'd booked through a booking website. The owner said it was a platform problem and promised a refund, but two weeks later it still hadn't been resolved. He kept making excuses and had an extremely poor attitude. We were exhausted from coming down the mountain and stuck in a remote area, not knowing if we'd find another hotel. Instead, we had to stay in an unfinished room with no bathroom and a dirty bed. This guesthouse was truly awful. Please read this before you book, and don't come here.

I eventually received the promised NT$7,700 refund on July 15th. Here's what happened. On April 29th, I paid the owner directly in full for a four-person room, without using a booking website. When we arrived at the B&B on June 3rd, only his mother was there. She said a group had booked the building's second floor for that day, but nobody had called to tell us beforehand. She showed us two choices, both on the first floor: two connecting rooms with a toilet and bathroom between them, but no air conditioning in either; or two rooms, one a complete suite and the other still under renovation, both with air conditioning, but with unfinished, very dirty beds. At 7:57 PM, after we'd checked in, the owner called and said a booking website problem had let guests who'd reserved the whole building book it. He offered NT$2,000 compensation out of the NT$5,700 total, since we'd be disturbed and couldn't rest. On the phone he was kind, apologized repeatedly, and seemed to want to fix things. The guests who'd booked the building started karaoke after 10 PM, along with mahjong noise. We had asked that it not go past 10, and his mother said she'd tell them. When we still couldn't sleep, we called the owner again. He suggested a second-floor room away from the open first-floor area. I refused and said, “We're not staying.” He verbally promised a full refund and another 2,000 yuan for gas. I told him we'd used the bathroom and rested briefly, so a full refund wasn't necessary and we could negotiate, but he insisted. His sincerity on the call felt palpable. The money didn't arrive on June 21st. When I asked, I was told to wait another two weeks. It was still missing on July 4th, and then I was told it would be credited by July 10th or 11th at the latest. I went back on July 11th, but still hadn't received anything. After reading the reviews, I realized I wasn't the only one. It seems this B&B accepts individual guests even when an entire-house booking comes later, then blames the booking website. They act sincere about sorting it out, but keep delaying. At first I thought I'd just take the refund and let it go, but I still get angry thinking about it. The group that booked the whole house had no problems. I think the owner wanted to profit from both sides, and perhaps knew there would be trouble, since he wasn't at the B&B then. I hope this helps prevent more people from going through it.

We arrived in the evening after booking online, only to be told they had no room and that the platform was to blame. If there'd been a mistake, they should've called earlier so we could change our plans. Instead, they offered a small, untidy room and a completely unfinished container house at the original price. That response was unacceptable and left us very disappointed. Anyone planning a trip should call to confirm…

We'd booked and paid in full ahead of time through a booking website, but once we arrived, the owner said there was no room and kept blaming the platform. The way they handled it was awful, and at least three groups faced the same problem that day. Being stuck with this situation high up on a remote mountain was infuriating. Going back down wasn't an option, but neither was squeezing into an unfinished space with no bathroom. I was so angry I was shaking.
