It’s basic accommodation, but comfortable and excellent value for cyclists looking for somewhere to stay. We were riding up to Wu Ling, and the owner knew a lot about the closure of No. 8. I’m glad we found this place.

We came to see Toroko National Park and tried several places after renting scooters near the train station before settling on Liwu Hotel. The room had a view of both the mountain and river. The property felt secure since you need a key or the password to open the front door. We didn’t have a reservation, but my husband called the owner using the number posted on the front door. He spoke English well, and getting the room key and paying were both straightforward. The housekeeper lives at the property and can be contacted if there’s a problem. The WiFi was good, and breakfast was healthy and delicious: salad, warm raisin bread, and a cold yogurt drink. I’d recommend it if you want accommodation near the national park visitor centre.

It’s close to the entrance of the Taroko scenic area, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean, and breakfast was quite good. I enjoyed staying here. It feels like it may once have been a cosy little hotel, but it’s showing its age now. There isn’t much noise insulation, the water pressure and temperature vary a lot, and the AC units themselves are quite noisy. Prices are low, but it still looks a bit run down for a budget hotel.

Our room was spacious and clean, and the hotel is good for the price. It’s well located near restaurants, with a short hike to the Taroko National Park Visitor Center. The breakfast was okay, though it wasn’t really to our taste. The staff spoke very limited English, but the service was still excellent.

We visited in April 2023. The hostel is tucked away in a peaceful spot, away from the crowds and closer to the Taroko park attraction. There’s a bus nearby, and a friendly steamboat restaurant just across the road. A phone outside the hostel lets you contact the owner, who guides you in to get your keys and find your room. There’s also a washing machine available.
