We decided on a last-minute trip to Yilan from southern Taiwan over the long weekend, when many motels and B&Bs were already full. At 1 a.m. on October 12th, I called to ask about rates and availability. I knew it was late and people would be asleep, but someone answered. I explained when we'd arrive; they had one room for four, though there were only two of us, and said they'd charge half the price. I said we'd discuss it right away and call back if we confirmed. The woman who answered told me, “No, we're going to sleep, so please don't call again.” That immediately struck me as terrible service. I asked politely, but that's how it went. I hope they can use a general phone number instead of asking for a personal one, or set clear calling hours, etc. ^_^

The owner is so friendly, and there are antique log cabins here. You must visit this lovely guesthouse in Luodong!

It just wasn't a good experience for me. I wouldn't stay here again.

Parking was easy and it was quiet, but the soundproofing was awful. The location is really remote, and the room wasn't a suite. It felt old, somewhat dirty and untidy, and the wooden bunk beds creaked a lot. Breakfast was just tiny drinks and thick slices. I'd think twice before staying here.

The guesthouse has plenty of space and the rooms were clean. Just take care with the shared fridge, since some of the owner's things are in there and you could pick up the wrong item. The owner's wife lives across the street and is a very close, helpful neighbor. She often comes over to remind everyone what to watch out for, like a responsible disciplinarian. She's caring like a mother, and her wake-up calls are as energizing as fresh air.
