LakeView Homestay

The hosts treated us to tea and delicious papaya they'd grown themselves, and kept us company after checkout while we waited for the rest of our group. They were very welcoming and provided great service. We stayed in a huge, clean double-bed suite on the fifth floor with a lake view. The internet was decent when connected, and the air conditioning worked well. The hotel is a few minutes from the pier, slightly away from the main food street, with good food nearby. I'd absolutely recommend staying here.

The prices are fantastic for the value, especially the suites. We booked a cheaper room for the first few nights, then treated ourselves to a suite on the last night and wished we'd done that earlier, or stayed in one the whole time. The suites have lovely views, and the hotel was very clean with all the usual room amenities. It's especially nice for couples. Larry, or 'Achan' (please excuse my spelling), was one of the best hosts I've had, and I've stayed in plenty of places. The rest of the staff were just as helpful. They booked electric bikes for riding around the lake, boat tickets, and tickets to the Formosa Cultural Village. Some staff didn't speak much English, but they made the effort and had fun communicating with us through smartphone translation. Breakfast was a delicious spread of local food, and they also sell a few local teas and other products. This was a special, memorable stay, and we'd travel nearly 24 hours from the UK just to come back to Taiwan and stay here again. This is based on our visit in May 2024.

This family-run place was the best accommodation we found around Sun Moon. The service was excellent, and they can arrange things at reception, including ebikes and scooters, as well as other activities around the lake. Their prices were better than at the venues, and we didn't have to queue. Street markets and most facilities are within a 200-meter walk. The cable car is about 800 meters away by the lake.

For a great price in the area, you get a welcoming, home-like little hotel. It's in a charming spot that's quiet but only steps from the night market and lake.
