Moivaro Coffee Plantation Lodge

The food itself was good when we came for lunch and swimming. The trouble started with the bill: we had agreed on prices for the starters and main course, but the amounts shown were different. Everything had been written down clearly, yet the staff began denying it. They argued instead of owning the mistake, then took our payment rudely. In the end, they told us we weren't welcome back. A really disappointing experience.

Once you get past the questionable approach road, this place feels like a whole different world, a beautiful little oasis. The food and service are both top notch. Stay a few days and just relax without doing much.

Set on an old coffee plantation, this is a lovely place to unwind. The lodges sit quietly among the wooded grounds, grouped near the main lodge, bar and restaurant. There are birds, flowers, impressive forest trees and some monkeys around. The food is good, and the service is fabulous and friendly.

I stayed here in September, both before and after climbing Kili, and had a first class experience. Prosper, the manager, was wonderful and attentive, and nothing seemed too much trouble. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The rooms were super clean, the beds comfortable, and the bathroom had adequate amenities and a hot shower. The Wi-Fi is excellent around the bar and reception. Try to spend an evening with a cold beer or wine by the huge garden bonfire. I liked Unit 31, so it's a good one to book ahead. Relax and enjoy!
