Rainbow Hotel

I chose this hotel for its location and photos, but the rooms had a very strong mold smell. The reception lady offered two other rooms, but they all smelled the same, and even she could admit it. I’d booked and fully paid for three days, but left within the same hour. Disgusting 😪 They don’t offer a refund 😏.

There’s no visible parking for guests. Rainbow hotel is in the city of Dar in Tanzania, and the rooms and customer service are good.

I checked in, saw the room, and left shortly after because I couldn’t stay in those conditions. It smelled horrible, the furniture was very old and worn, the AC was extremely noisy, and the toilet wasn’t clean. I’d booked based on the photos and reviews, but the actual place was completely different. They refused even a partial refund. A very disappointing experience, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

The woman at the desk, whose name was something like nazrah, though she had no name tag, refused to give us a second key. No reason, no apology, just “No.” If you’re running separate errands, I guess you have to sit in the hallway until your partner gets back. At checkout at 530 am for our ferry, she was asleep on a couch and didn’t get up. Lying flat, she said, “just put the key on the desk.” She didn’t ask how our stay was or wish us a good day. I wonder what she thinks she’s getting paid for. Terrible service.
