Hotel Urban by CityBlue Hotel, Dar es Salaam

The room and bathroom are both very spacious, and the room has a kitchenette and lounge area, plus a microwave and sink. There’s only one elevator, which becomes a real hassle when occupancy is high. The breakfast space is a bit small, and there aren’t many options, though I guess that may be culturally sensitive. I enjoyed my stay overall.

The pool has a lovely view, and the loungers are very comfortable, much better than they look in the photos. The rooms were very clean, and breakfast was fantastic. We started our Tanzania vacation here after the flight, before a safari and Zanzibar, and wanted to relax and visit the capital. I’d booked several fantastic resorts for later, so I expected this hotel to impress me the least, but I’m not so sure now. The welcome was very pleasant, and the staff were kind and helpful. The only drawback was that there wasn’t a bar or service at the pool. They were working hard on a bar, though, and it looked like it would turn out beautifully, so it’ll probably be ready by the time you book.

Urban by City Blue was a great place to stay during our fantastic time in Dar es Salaam. The rooms were roomy and comfortable, with a good shower and quality toiletries. Breakfast was great, and all the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

The front desk refused to give me an EFD receipt with the correct information I had provided from check-in, and they were extremely uncooperative. They called the person in charge, who they said was Peter or Simon, but wouldn’t give me the correct name. I’ve tried reaching out to get the right information sent to me, but got nowhere. They refused to provide authentic documentation reflecting my payment, and were rude and unprofessional. Martha and yahya were the other members at the desk.
