Royal Village Hotel Dodoma

One of the best hotels in Dodoma, with quality service across the board.

The breakfast was a highlight, with a healthy range of choices, and the customer service felt worthy of four stars for the price. The rooms are spacious and well furnished, with a desk, chair, and roomy bathroom. Outside, there’s plenty of parking and several leafy booths that make a pleasant setting for small groups. The hotel is in a fairly quiet neighborhood, close to the SGR station and various government buildings, though it sits some distance from the main road, so getting around can add to the cost. The prices are affordable. Better ventilation, stronger lighting, and more shower water would make this a five-star stay. The water was very hot, but there wasn’t much of it, and dust in the area seems to affect the room ventilation. More greenery around the property could help with that.

The front desk let us down twice. We asked for help with something on both occasions, and neither request was handled. Still, the hotel has attractive landscaping, spacious rooms, and a generous breakfast, while $33 a night is hard to beat. We went to the club twice. The food was good, drinks reasonably priced, and there was a live band playing mostly local songs. There’s a pool, but it was too cold to use in that weather.
