Mesuma Lodge

The food was mediocre at best, and service was shockingly poor. We waited two hours for a pizza, and by then the potatoes for the chips still hadn’t even been peeled. The lodge is also a long way from town. On the plus side, the rooms are clean and comfortable, nicely decorated, and there’s cold beer. I’d stay here, but eat somewhere else.

It’s a nice place, but we had trouble communicating with staff as foreigners. That evening, I called reception for help after a glass broke, and was told we had to pay for it, although the charge wasn’t on the receipt. Earlier, a housekeeper made us leave our room so she could change the bed covers. That didn’t feel professional.

The lodge itself is good, but being far from the town centre became a problem. There weren’t any basic necessities in the neighborhood, and I found it strange that the lodge didn’t help guests get transport into town. Because of those issues, I ended up moving to a hotel in the town centre, even though that wasn’t what I’d planned.

I spent the Christmas holiday here and had a very good time. It’s a tidy, quiet, comfortable place to rest, and I’m grateful to all the staff. I hope to return to Dodoma and stay longer.
