The food and hospitality made this a terrific stay in Jambiani. The Italian owner is a fantastic cook, and his Australian partner keeps everything running smoothly. It was easy to communicate in English, and from the moment I arrived I felt welcome. I’d picked the boutique hotel because of the kitchen reviews and sustainability principles, and it lived up to both. Fresh fish and other delicious dishes came at very reasonable prices, and breakfast had plenty of choices. My room was spacious, spotless, and tastefully decorated. The pool was relaxing, and the peaceful garden was lush and well kept. The owner also helped arrange appointments for my work project, connected me with local people, and took me to a quiet, secluded stretch of beach. They mentioned the bar next door can get noisy on weekends. I’d slept well, but they kindly moved me from my first-floor room to a quieter one on the ground floor to avoid any disturbance. The hotel is a few minutes’ walk from the beach, just behind the beachfront hotels, and its spot on a main road makes it easy to catch a tuk-tuk. I loved that Jambiani still feels authentic and less developed than other parts of Zanzibar. I’d happily stay here again.

Mornings at the Aurora boutique hotel were a highlight, with birdsong and a balcony view over treetops and clouds that felt like floating above a peaceful green canvas. The pool was my favorite place for an evening swim after exploring, and the rooms were spacious and sparkling clean. The food really stood out. Chef Simon made some of the best meals I’ve had, with generous portions and fantastic tropical drinks. Every meal felt like a work of art. Manager Marissa seemed to know what I needed before I asked, and her hospitality, along with Simon’s, made me feel at home from the start. They’re warm, generous people, and their stories kept me lingering in the restaurant. The hotel felt more like an experience than just a place to stay. I highly recommend it and am already planning another visit.

We had such a lovely time with Marissa and Simon. The resort is a dream, and they made us feel right at home. Our room was spotless, well maintained, and furnished in a beautiful boho style. Marissa and Simon are so friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, and breakfast was fresh and really good. Do eat at the restaurant, the food is top quality and delicious. Simon is a top chef.

We’ve spent about six weeks here in total between 2023-2025, and it’s always clean and nice. The pool is a refreshing way to start the morning, and the staff are warm, considerate, and make the stay comfortable. We look forward to breakfast every day, and a big hug to the owner for taking such good care of you! A great place in Zanzibar. Just stay here, don’t jeopardise it by choosing somewhere else.
