The beach was stunning and quiet, and the whole place felt more cozy and homely than a big luxury hotel complex. We spent eight lovely days at Five palms hotel. The rooms were spotless, modern, spacious, air-conditioned, and had good views. Breakfast was delicious, and the restaurant and bar are beautifully designed. The owner’s family were caring and very kind. The employees were open and attentive to what we needed, and we got to know them well enough to hear about local life. It was a comfortable stay where it was easy to relax.

The food came out quickly and was tasty, and we enjoyed the delicious cocktails. Our room had a sea view. It’s a clean, modern hotel with friendly staff, and it’s welcoming for children. We’d recommend it and hope to book another stay.

The food was the best part for me, with fresh produce and a very talented chef. I stayed at Five palms with my partner and left really satisfied. The hotel is exceptionally clean and professionally run, the staff are friendly, and the owners were very accommodating when I asked for help making our stay special. A must if you’re coming to Zanzibar.

The pools were a big bonus, and they were cleaned daily, as were the rooms. There were lots of activities for the kids, making this a great place to stay with family. The hotel is close to the beach and has a cozy feel with nice staff. The owners are kind and always ready to help with booking extra island activities. Highly recommend.

We had one of our worst hotel stays in Zanzibar here. We booked through booking.com a week beforehand. At first everything seemed fine, but then we learned there was no electricity, only a small generator that couldn’t power the whole hotel. That limited our use of the AC, fans, and water. With the humidity and weather, being in the room was a nightmare. We had kids with us, so we decided to leave after about three hours on the same day. The owner or manager wouldn’t agree to compensate us fairly. He wanted us to pay 80% of the booking, while booking.com would charge only 50%. We weren’t refusing to pay for the hours we stayed, just didn’t think 50-80% of the full booking was right. We couldn’t agree, and the discussion dragged on. After 8 pm, finding another hotel and transport was too difficult, so we ended up staying the night. At breakfast there was no milk or butter, and the hotel had run out of drinking water. I had to pay a waiter to find us some water from somewhere outside. The pool was filthy, with dead praying mantises, beetles, moths, and other bugs. The beach was rocky, smelly, and covered with rubbish, with sewage pipes and waste around it. The rooms were okay, and the food was okay too, but the service was among the worst I’ve experienced in a long time. There wasn’t a proper Zanzibar beach or anything fun to do at or around the hotel. A definite no from us.
