If you enjoy nature and being close to it, this is a lovely place. Santa Maria felt peaceful, with welcoming people and bungalows right by the beach. We stayed at the end of april and had the beach to ourselves. Just know the windows don’t have glass, so you can hear the rain and bushbabys. If that’s a problem for you, stay home 😅. The view was amazing, and they keep the beach clean. It’s a peaceful, chill place with helpful staff who gave us a warm welcome. When we had trouble with the local atm, they helped us out. The food was amazing too. Stay up at night and you might see some cute bushbabys. Ask the staff about them and they’ll teach you a lot and show you around. 10 out of 10, I’d stay forever.

It has a beautiful, jungle-like tropical feel and a great beach, though the beach is too shallow for swimming at high tide and not swimmable at low tide. The pool saves the day. The hotel feels very secluded and private, and the staff were very good. There’s no air conditioning in the rooms.

The location was perfect for a quiet stay on a deserted beach, away from the bustle. Breakfast was good, especially the fresh fruit and juice. We knew the accommodation was rustic, but the price didn’t feel right for what we got. The unit had screens instead of glass in the windows, and with the stormy weather it made for an interesting night. The curtains didn’t cover the full windows either. The power went out a couple of times, and at one point we had no water. When it came back, it wasn’t hot. WiFi was unreliable, and the room and bedding weren’t the cleanest.
