Moonshine Uroa Boutique Hotel

We had a bad experience with the airport transfer. We arranged an early pickup for our 5 a.m. landing, but the transport didn’t show until 7 a.m., so we had to take a taxi. Other guests said the hotel excursions were quite expensive, so we chose a local guide instead. The location is beautiful and one of the hotel’s main advantages. The beach is lovely for walks, which we enjoyed, though the sea was quite dirty, so we mostly swam in the pool. It was usually clean. Live music every evening and occasional events added something special to the nights. There was a wide range of food and drinks, and everything was very good. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were consistently excellent, and it was clear they put a lot of effort into the meals. The rooms were decent but could use more equipment. There was no fridge, and we could have used more closets and shelves. The bed was very comfortable. Room service sprayed for mosquitoes each evening, and when we requested cleaning, they did an excellent job. Apart from the transfer problem, the staff were friendly, kind, and accommodating. For the price, it’s a great deal, and I’d recommend the hotel.

The family team running this place makes you feel at home and at peace. It’s a beautiful spot right on a quiet beach where you can swim.

We booked one night and liked it enough to stay eight days. We would have stayed longer, but our vacation ended. The hotel team made it a very nice holiday, from the cleaning and room service staff to everyone in the restaurant and bar. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the food and service were really good. Some other guests, though, were rude and put a damper on the atmosphere. A few let their children throw food, while others expected restaurant staff to bring food to their tables even though it was a buffet, or Swedish table. Please be polite to the staff and don’t act like that. All the best to the restaurant and hotel teams, and special greetings to little Joshua.

It’s a beautiful, well-equipped place with real potential, and the person at reception was warm and welcoming. The area is very quiet, so expect a deeply relaxed stay with little going on around you. The downsides were operational. We waited an hour and a half for a very simple focaccia, and the very limited breakfast fell short of what I’d expect from a three-star place. Electricity cut out on and off all night, affecting the music and lights in the common area as well as the room’s air conditioning. The waiters speak very little English, which made even simple requests hard to explain. These things could be improved.
