The mangrove views were beautiful, and the young staff were so friendly. We spent four lovely nights at Bahari Pori and left feeling really relaxed. Francesco, the owner, made us feel at home, gave us a ride to Pangani, and arranged our bus back to Tanga. The restaurant's Italian food was delicious and fairly priced. Thank you!

Our four kids were thrilled with the well-kept pool and being able to build sandcastles on the beach. We also learned a lot on Musa's engaging walk through the protected mangrove forest next to the lodge. Right by the ocean, the place was peaceful and relaxing, and Francesco and his whole team went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. Thanks, Francesco, for making us feel at home.

We never felt pushed into doing activities, and all the choices were ours. The staff were among the best trained and most attentive we've encountered in Tanzania, perhaps anywhere on the continent. The trip to Fungu Reef was beautiful and reasonably priced, with excellent snorkeling, better than the Zanzibar sites we'd visited, and a little sand strip out in the ocean. Other options included a Pangani River cruise with other guests, where we saw river life, birds, and calm scenery, and dinner at Francesco's town restaurant, with fresh, tasty food at fair prices. It's also by the local museum and Yacht Club, with river views, African art, and history. Mousa took us on a lovely, interesting mangrove forest walk on the reef at no charge. The Bandas were clean, airy, comfortable, and had their own 24-hour electricity, so there were no blackouts. Getting there was easy with Francesco's help: we came by small boat from northern Zanzibar, a 2.5-hour trip, and his driver met us at Pangani port. If you're curious, the stay gives you a much richer understanding of Tanzania, the local landscape, and its people. Highly recommended.
