Kutoka Lodge

Kutoka Lodge felt like my home away from home during my time in Tanzania, and I always looked forward to getting back there. The lodge is beautiful, and the security helped me feel safe. The staff were friendly and accommodating, whether bringing bottled water, doing my laundry, or even unclogging my toilet. Breakfast each morning meant omelettes, fruit, breads, and juices. Dinner changed from night to night, and was always unforgettable. I made so many great memories there. The staff came to feel like family, and the environment encouraged an open mind. I'm forever grateful for their hospitality and dedication to my comfort.

The rooms were comfortable, though the beds were hard, and they weren't luxurious. The restaurant's meals, especially dinner, were excellently prepared, with fresh ingredients and careful attention to detail. It serves a set menu, though, not the variety some hotel booking websites suggest. The staff clearly try hard to please, but for me it goes too far. Offers to carry luggage are nice, yet that kind of service doesn't make up for the basics. After a long trip from the airport or a game drive, quick check-in and getting to your room should come first. Instead, old-fashioned colonial-era customs get in the way of a hot shower.

We spent three lovely nights in a wooden lodge just outside Arusha, with a peaceful feel, beautifully landscaped garden, and magical evenings by the campfire. The staff were incredibly kind and made us feel at home. A perfect family break before our Tanzanian safari!

The food was exceptional, and the service was outstanding when I visited Kutoka Lodge with my school group of 17. The staff arranged buffet meals for nearly 30 people and extended breakfast hours so everyone could eat before our daily departures. They also offered laundry, taught us basic Swahili, and made sure we were comfortable and well rested each day. They were exceptionally welcoming and went above and beyond for our needs.
