Irente View Cliff Lodge

From the balcony early in the morning, the mist and sunrise were beautiful. Having coffee in bed while watching it is a moment I won’t forget. The rooms were clean and cool, and the hotel is well placed for visiting three viewpoints. The complimentary breakfast wasn’t organized well, though. We had to wait for dishes to be made and brought out one by one, and kept asking for more food. Everything should be ready in the restaurant on time.

I didn’t stay in a room, just came to see the view, and it was a marvelous experience. I arrived around 8:30, when fog and drizzle were everywhere, and paid tsh 1000 for entry. I wanted a coffee, so they served me breakfast meant for in-house guests, which cost 3000. The restaurant staff were nice, and I had a guide just for the view. A staff member told me rooms start at 100k and come in three categories. There’s also an apartment-style option for families, around 270k, with two rooms. Contact them directly as the price may vary. If your budget allows, staying a night here seems well worth it, much better than going somewhere else in town.

The view and location are fantastic, just a two-minute walk to Irentey View point. The food was nice, including Indian and Chinese dishes, and the staff were helpful and accommodating. Mr. Edward at reception especially helped make our stay wonderful. I’d recommend staying here in Lushoto and would love to return. The wifi wasn’t connecting in the rooms, so that needs fixing. We ended up with a nice price after stopping by to ask about rooms while hiking from Lushoto to the Irente Viewpoint. We’d expected it to be expensive, and the value turned out much better than at some rustic farms that were charging more. We enjoyed our afternoon and morning here, having beers on the balcony. Even in the cheapest room, we had a lovely view of the Usambara mountain. The bed and room were comfortable, the hot shower was the best I’d had in two months in Africa, and breakfast was lovely, with vegetables, chapati, fruit, omelettes and juice. Irente Viewpoint is just a three-minute walk away. It’s good for sunrise, though sunset is better. Nice service too, asante Amani! The dining room was quite dark, and the staff didn’t speak much English. Everything else was very nice.
