Amani was helpful and the staff were nice. The pool itself was pleasant, and the hotel is right on a beautiful beach. During the building work, the manager kindly let us choose between rooms, though neither one was actually nice. Still, Seles was the dirtiest hotel I’ve stayed in. There were ants everywhere, including the rooms and restaurant, and even walking to our bathroom made our feet feel filthy. We came hoping to relax, but the loud trees out front spoiled that, and there weren't any loungers by the pool. Breakfast's poached eggs were gross. The idea of evening entertainment was good, but karaoke didn't fit a restaurant with about six older guests in it. Dinner also took over an hour to arrive. For a more relaxing, clean-feeling stay, go next door to the Zanzibar Pearl. It costs a bit more, but seemed worth it.

We were happy there for 15 days. The food was tasty and the drinks were enjoyable, and I’m grateful for the hospitality. The housekeepers cleaned so well every day and even decorated with flowers. It felt like being with family in this lovely boutique hotel. Palms all around, a beautiful oceanfront view, local people and beaches right in front. The manager, Norbert, was smiling, polite, generous and very helpful. Thank you!

The beach is right outside, and it's the one good thing about this place. The pool is tiny and dirty, nowhere near the tropical paradise the photos promise. Inside, rooms are dark and dingy, and the food costs far too much for how little flavor it has. The staff were the biggest letdown. Any request seemed to move at about two miles per hour, and whenever you spoke to them, they acted like you were bothering them. If you want to relax and enjoy Matemwe beach, I'd stay somewhere else.

The owner was so welcoming and kind, and flexible about my check-in. He even gave me a generous room upgrade. Dinner and breakfast were both highlights, really top-notch, with fresh fruit, eggs and pancakes waiting for me in the morning. My room was lovely and very clean. The whole property is gorgeous, tucked into lush nature right by the beach, and the oceanfront location is hard to beat. It's a stunning, peaceful little oasis. If you're going to Matemwe, give this place a try.

The only thing I missed in my clean room was a hairdryer. Otherwise, 100/100: great food, service and hospitality. I had a whole Bungalow to myself for an amazing price, and the host was friendly and welcoming. He answered all my questions about getting a car from the airport, dolphin watching, snorkeling, food and shopping. Contact the hotel ahead of time so you don't get ripped off by the terminal taxi. Highly recommend!
