The camp is closed now because the lake level has risen. In the last photo, taken September 2025, you can see what remains of the restaurant. We had a lovely stay in 2023, with hippos wandering through the grounds at night and zebras around during the day. They’re opening a new place up in the hills, and we’re sure it’ll be just as good.

The food really stood out, easily the best we ate during our one-week safari. We spent one night here. The room was a little worn, but it was good enough and we slept comfortably.

The staff were great, and the meals were delicious with generous portions. Our bed was big and comfortable too. The lodge felt a bit tired, though: dusty floors, peeling bathroom paint, towels that need replacing, and not much light in the room. It worked for an overnight stay, and we were comfortable. There weren’t many animals to see while we were there, probably because the rainy season had left parts of the property flooded.

The sunset over the lake was something special, and the view was incredible. We slept in a tent above the water, right near the animals, and woke up with zebras and wildebeests at the door. No need to worry, they don’t attack. We also saw monkeys, and heard hippos and hyenas during the night. The whole place feels close to nature, just right for a safari. The buffet was good, and the staff were generous and friendly. For the price, the quality was really good, so I recommend staying here overnight.

We only had one night here at the start of our safari and wished we could have stayed longer. There’s a big pool with sunbeds, a bar, a shop selling local products, and even an open-air gym. The tents were spacious, clean, and well equipped. Food was great, and the service was friendly. What made the camp special was seeing zebras, monkeys, gnus, and other animals eating, playing, and running around. It felt amazing to be that close to nature. Highly recommend it for a safari in Tanzania.
