The pool was amazing, and the rates matched what was listed on the website, with children paying half price. They’ve apparently been renovating or upgrading the place. The big camping field shown in some pictures isn’t there now, since cottages have been built, though there’s still enough space to camp. We got good service with a local feel, and everyone was extremely friendly. They put in a lot of effort to help charge our electric car.

We had a great time at Camp Bastian. The food was yummy, the staff were really friendly, and it’s so close to Mikumi National Park. My friends and I will definitely recommend it to our friends.

The portions at lunch were huge, in a good way, and everything we ordered tasted great. People kept praising the chicken pizza, and the BBQ chicken and chicken coconut were delicious too. Breakfast and dinner are buffets, while lunch is à la carte. The staff were so friendly, the beds were good, and the camp was a great fit for us. Wi-Fi worked everywhere except the rooms, which was fine since we wanted to rest. There was one pool open, with another under construction. I’d have liked more towels, plus shampoo, soap, and water in the room. We’d come back for sure.

Ladis Laos guided our safari and was a great guy, very knowledgeable about the animals and keen to make sure we saw them all. We had a lovely one-night stay after our early drive from Dar with Sky, our driver. The welcome was warm, and everyone was helpful and accommodating. Staff went looking for an extra fan when we asked, and the woman at reception helped us work out the adapter for our US charger. We had booked through Going Green Safari Tours, and would recommend both the lodge and the tour company.

Good value, with clean rooms, a nice restaurant, bar, pool, and lovely garden. The internet was a problem, though.
