Nungwi Garden Boutique Hotel

The pool area is a lovely, clean patch of greenery, and the restaurant food is tasty. Even when communication there is sometimes a problem, the breakfast buffet is always good. The place could use some updates, though. Our suite's hot tub was really just a shower with a large basin, and it wouldn't hold water. The WiFi was so poor that we couldn't properly use the TV in the room. Manager Manual is a champ and would do anything for guests. Without him, the hotel wouldn't function.

The restaurant is well worth eating at, and the bar has plenty of drinks to choose from. We found the staff incredibly welcoming, helpful, and friendly. Our room was generous in size, airy, and spotless, and the large clear pool with its nice jacuzzi was lovely. Asanteni sana kwa kila kitu mlitufanyia!!!

The outdoor space had lots of sunbeds and room to unwind, and the location was good. Staff were friendly, breakfast was basic but fresh, with eggs and crepes made to order. It felt like good value. They even brought out a little cake and sang for one of the guests, such a sweet touch. It seemed family friendly, couple friendly, and Muslim friend Aly. As a solo traveler, I felt safe with security at the front gate. They also let a local nail technician come to my room for a manicure, which was thoughtful. I was disappointed that the front desk couldn't offer much information about beach bars or nightlife. The bed placement felt awkward; putting it on the opposite wall or in the separate room near the bathroom would let guests enjoy the pool view and get better airflow from the fan and air conditioner. Privacy was the biggest problem. Even though I clearly declined housekeeping, staff came into my room twice. Once, they woke me while I was visibly asleep, then left the door unlocked. When I brought it up, I got a generic reply telling me not to worry, with no acknowledgement of how serious it was or any follow-up. After my friend cancelled, I asked to downgrade since I wasn't using the second bed or its amenities, but they wouldn't be flexible. Management didn't speak with me directly. Issues seemed to be handed to staff, who gave standard answers without real solutions. I really wanted to leave a great review. There's potential here, but guest privacy, communication, and the room design need serious improvement.

The room was so badly laid out that the AC couldn't reach the bed, and it was unbearably hot. We ended up dragging the beds onto the floor to sleep. The Wi-Fi worked at reception but didn't reach our room, and the advertised bathtub had no stopper. The bathroom door wouldn't close either. Pathetic, and not worth the money. Don't come here. Edit: The owner says we never raised these problems during our stay, which is false. We complained a million times and got no response. The bed was attached, but we had to move the mattress to get it into the AC's airflow.
