We expected The Zanzibari to look at least somewhat like the pictures on its website. Our “suite frangipane” was dirty, smelled really bad, and had furniture from the 70s. The photos also show the pool, beach, and other parts of the hotel, and there's a big difference compared with the website.

The room layout was strange, but the AC was powerful. The rest of the facility was great, with a well thought out setup. There was a small saltwater pool, a sandy area with chairs, and a roomy outdoor restaurant. The front desk service was great. The north shore location felt a bit isolated, which I liked.

I felt completely comfortable and cared for as a solo traveler, thanks to the kind, friendly, attentive staff who always went out of their way to help. The food was outstanding throughout. Breakfast had different, exciting choices each morning, and lunch and dinner were excellent too. I stayed at The Zanzibari for three nights. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and had everything I could need. The pool area and wide sea views were breathtaking. Highly recommended!

The rooms were clean, and housekeeping did a very good job. The food was pretty good too. I did find the rooms basic and small, though, and better lights and curtains that fully close would help, since the pool area can see into the room. Service in the bar and dining areas was very slow, sometimes wrong, and often rude. For a hotel that isn't cheap, I expected more. The hotel-recommended boat trips run through third parties and may not be wildlife friendly, so keep that in mind.

A quiet, private place to stay, with clean and comfortable rooms and excellent service. Sustainability seems to be a real focus here. The beach is about a 10-minute drive away. I'd definitely recommend it.
