We booked through Airbnb, but the room we got didn’t look like the one shown on the platform. Isabella moved us to another room and said there’d be an extra charge by credit card. We agreed, but after a few more uncomfortable experiences, we decided to leave after the first night. Isabella said she’d refund us. Airbnb returned part of the original amount, while the extra 120 USD we’d paid for the “upgrade” was supposed to come back by EFT. At first she still replied, but then delayed and gave reasons for not paying. Eventually she stopped responding altogether, and we never got that money back. I’d suggest booking and paying only through a platform that can step in and help recover your money if needed.

The food was delicious and the accommodation had a really relaxed feel. Reading there was bliss. We loved staying in the Treehouse, especially the netted overhang where we could hang out. It was a bit like a balcony, but with a net, haha. P.S. The Swahili Cave is literally next door, about 30 seconds away. At 10$/pp, it’s quite worth it. We were lucky to have the cave to ourselves for a good while. We went after 4pm and stayed for an hour. The water was very fresh and clear.

Green Ocean is a hidden gem in the bush, a place you need to stay in to appreciate the realness of Africa. The owner is a wonderful and strong woman who’s created more than a hotel. There’s a unique garden, somewhere to rest or sit around a campfire, and options for massage or watching the milky way. I’ve rated beautiful places before, but I wanted this review to stand out for readers. Congratulations to everyone who makes it to Green Ocean.

I loved every moment of my week at Melanie's property. The rooms are spacious and practical, breakfast is to die for, and the grounds feel like a little jungle. I especially enjoyed the pool and garden. Melanie is a wonderful soul who loves having people around. Thank you, Melanie & co, for such a great stay. I recommend her place 100%!
