I stayed with Mauwa for two weeks and was really happy there. The owner and staff are wonderful, helpful and flexible. The house was very clean, and my room was cleaned every day. I also liked the small backyard with hammocks. The shower had hot water, and the tall wall around the garden plus 24/7 security made it feel very safe from burglars.

It's a peaceful spot away from crowds and loud bars, yet the beach is just a one-minute walk away and you can reach town or other places along the beach in a few minutes. The staff, including Elisabeth, Rosi and the night shift guys, keep everything in order and make you feel welcome. There are EU-style plugs and good Wi-Fi, which makes it handy for working away from home or as a digital nomad. There's also a very cute cat, see if you can spot her in the room photos. One of my favorite places in Zanzibar.

We had a lovely room and everything was arranged well, including warm water. We did need to switch rooms because of renovation, but it all went smoothly and the replacement room was good too. The owner is super kind and quick and friendly to communicate with, and the staff were sweet as well. We absolutely loved our stay and would definitely recommend it. Such good vibes.

The owner is a wonderful person, not just kind to customers, and made us feel really welcome. Rooms are clean and nice, with warm water, and it's close to both the beach and the main road. One of the nicest places to stay in Paje. Totally recommend it 😊🤝🏾

Mauwa House is quiet, peaceful, clean and safe, with a lovely helpful staff and a friendly owner. The beds are comfortable and the fans work really well, though there's air conditioning too if you need it. It's near a clean beach and not far from the town center. I agree with all the good opinions about this place, and I'll choose Mauwa again when I come back to Zanzibar.
