The lodge is cozy, right by the beach, and has a great pool and good food. The staff were generous, friendly, and always willing to help. My first room had shower and air-conditioning problems. They tried to fix them, and when that didn't work, helped me move to another room so I could be comfortable.

I hardly ever review hotels, but I was really disappointed by the spa massage. The room was gorgeous and the men at reception were very helpful, but the massage itself was a letdown. The therapist talked with a coworker during it and I also saw her using her phone. I already had a strange feeling when I asked about the treatment. The young women seemed uninterested, communication was poor, and they talked about me to each other. When they asked why I had stopped halfway through, they laughed. I saw no sign they knew how to handle a complaint. It felt very unprofessional.

We came back after an exceptional stay in September 2024, especially thanks to Mr. Kahawa, but this year's visit was a huge disappointment and nowhere near what we expected. Our room was noisy because it was beside the parking area for tourist bus pickups, and nobody did anything about it. It also wasn't kept properly: the sink tap and bidet holder were broken, the room was never cleaned well, damaged bedsheets were supplied, and dirty beach towels weren't taken away. I had to ask for fresh towels three days in a row. Breakfast had been amazing the year before, but for all five days this time it was the same, and some bread wasn't fresh. The quality had dropped a lot. Coconut ice cream was the one thing that stayed as good as last year. I raised everything with the morning receptionist. He immediately made excuses and said he'd tell management, but nobody followed up with me. I wouldn't stay at Mr. Kahawa again.

The food was fantastic and good value, and I really liked the decor and atmosphere. The rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated too, though some minor maintenance would help. I also enjoyed the ambiance enough that I plan to return. There were some problems, though. The pool looked murky and smelled unpleasant. I heard staff arguing loudly and swearing in front of guests, which was uncomfortable as a Swahili speaker. They could use training in how to act professionally around customers. I also felt local tourists like me were treated badly, as if some staff assumed we couldn't afford to be there. I hope the feedback is taken seriously and that staff behavior, room upkeep, and pool cleanliness improve.

The pool was dirty, and the room's hot tub was actually cold. Wi-Fi kept cutting out, and the water stopped four times in three days, so we had to call reception each time. There wasn't enough hot water for two people to shower, either. Breakfast came in small trays that ran out fast. Then we had to wait about 10 minutes for a refill, and even then they put out very little. Restaurant service wasn't good. On top of everything, fake Maasai people shouted at us while we were trying to relax.
