The bungalows are classically built in a pleasant, rustic area, surrounded by forest and right on the beach with their own stretch of shore. At night it's completely quiet apart from the waves and wind, so I slept very well. The staff are lovely and can arrange everything. Breakfast and the restaurant were good too. I'd wholeheartedly recommend it if you want an old Zanzibar feel, close to nature, and a real tropical holiday away from crowded hotels and discos.

We came to the restaurant just to try its famous Cold Noodle, and it lived up to expectations. The Chicken Teriyaki and Gyoza were excellent too. You can use a credit card, but their terminal apparently only takes USD, so we ended up paying about 4-5% extra. It's right on the beach, with a great sea view at high tide. That also makes it harder to reach along the beach, since I expect most of it would be flooded then. We took the main road instead, then entered through a white gate with the hotel's name beside it.

The owner welcomed us when we arrived in the late afternoon and explained the place. We headed straight into the sea at sunset. The whole place feels so chill and relaxing that you could stay there forever, recharging and unwinding. The food was very good too, freshly slow-cooked, and the atmosphere was calm and familiar. I fell in love with it and wished our stay could go on forever.

The setting is wonderful, with lush vegetation and a beautiful beach with turquoise water. The location is great, but the rooms are simple, the mattress is only decent and sits on the floor. The bathroom has water problems, with no hot water at all. The place wasn't well maintained and wasn't very clean.
