The beach dinners were a real highlight, and the staff put a lot of care into making them special. We spent five days at Manta, where the small number of rooms gives the place an authentic feel and lets it blend into its beautiful white-sand, clear-water setting. The rooms were lovely, and while there was no air conditioning, that wasn’t a major problem. The insects indoors took a couple of days to get used to, and the towels could be softer and cleaner. We enjoyed diving among the fish near the hotel, though the boat and equipment felt basic and we would have liked more advanced options. On three dives, our guide was not an instructor. The included massages were a nice extra, but the treatments felt a little amateur and could use more staff training. Restaurant service had a similar issue. People were kind and clearly cared, yet we were often interrupted: several staff asked each morning how we had slept, and someone repeated the day’s breakfast offering even though it never changed. A bit more privacy and smoother service would help. The food was mostly good, though breakfast especially could use more choice and flexibility, and snacks during the day would be welcome. Included drinks were limited and fairly modest in quality; it would be nice to pay extra for premium choices. Even with these things, we’d recommend Manta to travelers after a relaxed, low-key stay.

The beach was beautiful and private, the food was amazing, and the hotel was clean. The staff were so nice and spoke English perfectly. We couldn’t have asked for a better vacation, and we can’t wait to return someday. Best resort we’ve ever stayed at, highly recommend.

Said looked after us as both our butler and server, and went above and beyond to make the trip unforgettable. The dive shop was great too, with some of the prettiest, most lively coral I’ve seen in all my years diving. Staying at Manta Resort was one of the best experiences of my life. If you want somewhere to relax and enjoy a superb location, this is the place.

The food felt like local luxury, with fresh seafood and tropical fruit full of amazing flavour. We loved the seafront villa, its magnificent view, and the plunge pool, which was perfect at low tide. There’s even a private path down to the beach. With only a few rooms, Manta Resort feels like your own private holiday in a barefoot luxury paradise. The team took such good care of us. We’d go back in a heartbeat.

Getting from the airport takes a long time, and the bumpy road gives you an ‘African Massage’, but it’s worth it once you arrive. Rooms 1-6 and some of the family rooms have amazing sea views. The service and food are great, and the clean beach is a relaxing place to spend time. The diving arrangements are good, though most of the local reef is dead, so you have to go farther out to find underwater life.
