The central location was the only good part of our stay. We had a bad experience and I don't usually leave negative reviews. We had to switch rooms because the AC didn't work, and the place looked nothing like the photos online. It needs a full update and a deep clean. We felt dirty there and didn't think it was worth what we paid. Customer service was awful too. We stayed one night, then moved to another hotel for our second night in Stone Town. It seems many of the reviews here are about the restaurant rather than the hotel.

This is at least 10 years late, but seeing the Google pictures brought back memories of eating at the hotel's restaurant in 2015. We chose it over the Double Tree Hotel, where we were staying just a few meters away. Sadly, that hotel is now closed. The food was absolutely phenomenal. I still vividly remember the lady chef, and hope she's still there. She treated us like royalty, and we thanked her in person on our last day. I really hope they've kept up those standards over the years.

Markets, restaurants, and the main sights are all an easy walk from Beyt Al Salaam, right in the centre of Stone Town. We spent one night here and loved the hotel's antique charm, traditional interiors, and warm, welcoming staff. A lovely mix of heritage and hospitality.

That staircase is a marvel, and the room was fantastic too. Its old Arab style gives the place a special, almost magical feel for anyone on holiday here.

Khadijah even helped rock our baby to sleep, so we could take our time over the meal. That kind of thoughtful care is rare. Aminah, the supervisor, was attentive too and made sure we had everything we needed. The whole team was kind and welcoming, and the place felt relaxed and family friendly. The food was amazing, especially the calamari. It was perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and the best I've had in a long time. This restaurant is about genuine hospitality as much as great food. Highly recommend for a memorable meal.
