Zava House Stone town

For the price, the place is fine and the staff are friendly, but the room is simple, so don’t expect much. There’s only a fan, which barely helps in March’s extreme heat. After a few days I was relieved to find somewhere else with AC.

We enjoyed our three nights here. The rooms are basic, but roomy and comfortable, and everything was clean. The staff were very friendly. It’s central yet quiet enough to sleep properly, and good value for money.

For travelers spending 3-4 days in Stonetown, Zava is a perfect fit for the price. It’s near downtown, with lots of different restaurants around.

We were traveling as a family and left as soon as we saw the room, telling the property manager we couldn’t stay. We hadn’t even checked in, but they still refused to refund us. We then had to scramble to find somewhere else at the last minute instead of enjoying our trip. The room was in terrible shape, nothing like the photos or description on Booking.com that we’d relied on. The beds were broken and shifted when you sat down, the walls were filthy, there was no water provided, and they wouldn’t give us a blanket. It was a nightmare. I’ve tried contacting Booking.com support several times and haven’t received a response. I’ve attached photos so others can see what it was like. I strongly advise avoiding this property. It felt like a scam, and they showed no care for guests, hospitality or even basic decency.
