The people here are what I'll remember most. The staff made me feel like family, and I fell in love with every one of them. The bungalows are spacious and elegant, with an authentic feel, considered design, and incredibly comfortable beds. It's a peaceful place for yoga, meditation, or simply reconnecting with nature and yourself. The beach is unusually quiet, and the swimming pool is one of the most beautiful I've seen. Walking through the lush gardens, with tropical fruit hanging overhead, feels like entering a present-day Garden of Eden. The palace ruins carry you somewhere else, especially at sunset, when the atmosphere turns magical. I loved my time here and already want to come back.

The garden is a tucked-away oasis, a lovely place to slow down, reconnect, and relax. Marina and her team care for guests wholeheartedly, and their love and strong connection to Swahili culture show in every corner. We’ll come again ♥️

Mangrove lodge gave me the calm I was looking for. It's away from the city's noise, and I love being surrounded by nature and its sounds. If you're after a quiet hidden gem in Zanzibar, this is a lovely place to go. The customer service is amazing.

The pool was clean and quite large, and the beach was only a 30-second walk away. I loved the variety of plants and trees around the property, more than I'd seen at my other stays, and would recommend it if you enjoy nature. The room was lovely, smelled nice, and had thoughtful little details. Its outdoor shower was wonderful: you could look across all the trees and plants and hear the animals, with plenty of privacy. Even the floor was made from natural rocks instead of concrete. We talked with the lodge owner, a very relaxed local and an enjoyable person to chat with. I'll definitely visit again on my next trip to Zanzibar.

The food was fresh and delicious, though the restaurant took a while to prepare it, so allow for that. The beach is rocky, and getting into the water at low tide is difficult without special shoes. The pool is a great alternative then. Wi-Fi was only available at the restaurant and pool, which suited me fine. The rooms were comfortable, and I enjoyed the outdoor shower. Staff were helpful and friendly, and the secluded setting away from the main road made it easy to relax and recharge. I preferred it to Stone Town and the busier areas. Good value for money, and I'd return.
