The verandah has a great view of the western sun over the Indian Ocean. The rooms step down with the terrain, and it’s a lovely old hotel with hardwood doors, windows, furniture, and balustrades. There’s a hot shower, wall-mounted split air conditioning, and a ceiling fan. Some rooms also have a bonus 3'x6' side bed.

BEWARE! I was given a specific rate and paid before check-in, but in the morning security shut the gate and demanded more money. That was outright THEFT. I also woke up to COCKROACHES and ants running around the room, and there were RATS in the dining hall. This is a poorly maintained hotel, and the staff are scammers. Stay away from this FILTHY ESTABLISHMENT, and stay at your own risk.

I felt safe and had a great time here. The views from the rooms and restaurant are amazing, and it’s a great place to watch the sunset. The staff were friendly, and the surroundings were calm, peaceful, and quiet. The internet connection in my room was bad, though.

The food was lovely, with lots of fish, and I especially liked breakfast. Staff were friendly all around, from the chefs and receptionists to the support team. Once, the drivers recognized me walking along the main road and gave me a lift. They said they knew me from their hotel. I guess I make a lot of content, so people recognize me when they see me again. The location is nice, though the WiFi was weak in the rooms and worked well in the halls. Public transport nearby can take you to Stone Town or wherever else you want to go.
