Hotel Old Port

For an early flight, this is good value for an overnight stay, and I’d use the hotel again. It’s very clean, close to Boryspil Airport, and I didn’t hear any street noise. Reception was friendly, and the airport transfer was reliable, though it costs extra. There’s no restaurant, but a shopping mall is nearby. The hotel floors creak, and I’m not sure the rooms are well soundproofed, since I could hear footsteps from the flat above.

A straightforward hotel that works well if you have an early flight. The front desk agent was very nice and friendly, and there’s an airport shuttle for 100 uah, or around $3.50. Nearby you’ll find Aeromall, a Novus Supermarket, restaurants, phone stores, and other shops. There’s also a small table with coffee, tea, and other beverages at very low prices.

The transfer runs on a set schedule rather than whenever you need it. For a morning flight, that could mean reaching the airport half an hour early, so a taxi may be easier and cheaper. The room itself was clean, with good wifi and black-out curtains, and the receptionist spoke English and tried to help with the problems I reported. Still, this was the worst hotel night I’ve ever had. There’s no sound isolation. I heard conversations in neighboring rooms and in the corridor, and every step from the room above sounded like an elephant stomping. The ceiling shook when those guests walked, making the lamp rattle against its casing like clinking glasses. I tried putting two pillows over my head, but the noise kept me awake before an important flight. The bed made things worse. The old synthetic linen made me sweat, and its bobbling felt unpleasant against my skin. The thin pillows were lumpy inside, so I couldn’t arrange one comfortably under my head. The tap water was so soft that it was hard to rinse off the soap, leaving me feeling soapy. The fridge also made a loud noise when it switched on and woke me up. I slept so badly that I felt very sick the next day and could hardly get to my destination country. Once I arrived, I had to go straight to sleep and lost a day of my vacation. All of that followed from one night here. I don’t recommend it to anyone, especially since people often stay here before or after flights and need a proper rest.

The rooms were neat and clean, and the hotel was comfortable, with friendly staff and good service. It’s about 10 min from the airport. There’s a food court and supermarket nearby, and reception sells coffee, tea, and snacks.
